The Local Elections are upon us. Can you make a difference ? Why should you vote ? Who should you vote for ? And what do councillors actually do ?

On 2nd May, you will be able to vote for a third of our local councillors in Reading as we as our Police & Crime Commissioner. You will need to already be registered as a voter and either make a postal vote (in which case you should already have your voting ballot) or turn up in person at a polling booth with a valid photo ID (these include assport, driving licence (including provisional license), blue badge, concessionary travel cards, identity card with PASS mark (Proof of Age Standards Scheme), biometric Immigration document, defence identity card, certain national identity cards).

Students can register at home or in the place they are at college or university, but can only vote in one at a general election.

You can find your local polling centre here: Find your polling station | Where Do I Vote?
